Early Fall Updates

With cooler temperatures on the way Erie, we’re gearing up for a good fall.  Shen & Bones Performance Group is about to embark on a new project with Gerry Trentham, a voice/movement expert from Buffalo who will be coming to Erie to set a new work on us.  Very exciting!  You can find out more about Gerry’s work HERE.   We’ll keep you posted on developments with this piece as well as our debut of  new work by Lani Weissbach and Cleveland-based company MorrisonDance, which will all be part of an evening-length concert here in Erie next March.

Also, Lani’s Tuesday morning and evening dance and yoga classes are continuing through September and October.  All experience levels are welcome!  Here is that information:

 

Moving from Center: Contemporary Modern dance technique and improvisation for every body

When: Tuesdays, 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Where: Girl on Fire Movement Studio, 2601 Peach St. 2nd Floor
Cost: $10 drop-in, $36 for a 4-class card
What to bring: Wear clothing comfortable for movement
This class will blend basic principles of contemporary modern dance technique with improvisation, emphasizing the capacity for ease, freedom and dynamic power within the human body.  Some of the concepts we will explore will include:  stability and mobility of the pelvis and joints; clarity of form, line and direction in the body and space, and; gravity, momentum, natural alignment and core activation for the integration of the body as a whole.  Breath work and imagery will heighten awareness and sensitivity.  Enjoy moving and being in a safe environment geared toward personal discovery and FUN!

Yoga and Beyond: A contemporary approach to ancient wisdom

Where: The Village of Healing and Wellness 2340 W. Grandview Blvd. Suite #9, Erie PA
When: Tuesdays, 6:15–7:15  p.m.
Cost: $10 drop-in, $36 4-class card
Bring a yoga mat and thick blanket

Yoga and Beyond is a blend of yoga, contemplative dance, somatic movement and meditation designed to help us release unhealthy habits, feel more joy in the moment, and experience the gentle power of our innate life force. We will incorporate invigorating yet gentle yoga asanas (postures) with organic movement sequences geared toward creating ease of motion, core power, integration and balance. Mindfulness meditation will focus and soften the mind. Enjoy oving and being in a friendly and non-competitive environment. No experience is necessary.
